My favourite Royal Wedding outfits!

by Margaret Woodliff | June 10, 2018 | 0 Comments

We are just back from a wonderful holiday In Canada, and finally summer seems to have got here after a fashion "slightly erratic" might be a good description of the weather we are experiencing currently here in Northumberland.

Anyway whilst we were away the world stopped for a spot of Royal Wedding fever - didn't Megan look simply beautiful? Her dress radiated understated and sophisticated elegance, I watched a short synopsis of the day on the plane home and enjoyed the spectacle especially everyone's hats &  headpieces of course.

Doria Ragland drew much understandable attention and admiration, and one my other favourite outfits was the beautiful green hand painted gown by Dolce & Gabbana, worn with orange heels, and a green headpiece with veiling worn by Lady Kitty Spencer, captured here in a Getty image featured in Harpers Bazaar.

Such is the importance of fashion at events as the Royal Wedding that it will shape the millinery trends we will see for this summer and beyond, so in my next post I'll be bringing you up date with a feature Living North have just run on my millinery work as well an opportunity to enter a competition to win one of my headpieces - just in time for the races or a summer wedding.

A final hat note for this post - for my blog post's featured image I have also chosen another beautiful Getty image for Harpers Bazaar this time of Doria Ragland. This image features Doria wearing Oscar de la Renta and a Stephen Jones headpiece.

Whirlwind trip to London Hat Week

Brilliant trip to London for launch parties of The MillinerXArtisan exhibition & The Cupola international hat exhibitions to mark London Hat Week.

A full week in London from Oct 6 - 13th saw me attend the launch parties and see my pieces Weft, Heald Wires, and le recyclage displayed in dramatic settings; attend the book launch for Stephen Jones latest and hear him interviewed by Hiliary Alexander; attend trade fairs, workshops and fit in lots of networking with old and new friends, and lots of milliners of course! A brilliant week and managed to take in Undressed at the V&A, too!!

Thank heaven's for a great AirBnB. What a week! Wow - came home for a rest!

Vive La Poste - Made in Northumberland hat finally arrives in France!

by Margaret Woodliff | March 09, 2014 | 0 Comments

Inspiration Santiago Calatrava

I had given up all hope of my latest piece arriving in Chazelles-sur-Lyon, in time for the competition deadline. Indeed I thought my images would be the last I would ever see of it, after it languished for days in the international post room some where between Newcastle Airport and Heathrow.

However thanks in no part to the valiant efforts of Gary at the Wagonway Post Office, Alnwick, the piece finally arrived in Paris, with only about twelve hours to spare. Then an Olympic style dash took place, courtesy of La Poste, and the piece arrived at Chazelle-sur-Lyon with moments to spare before the deadline!
