Brilliant trip to London for launch parties of The MillinerXArtisan exhibition & The Cupola international hat exhibitions to mark London Hat Week.
A full week in London from Oct 6 - 13th saw me attend the launch parties and see my pieces Weft, Heald Wires, and le recyclage displayed in dramatic settings; attend the book launch for Stephen Jones latest and hear him interviewed by Hiliary Alexander; attend trade fairs, workshops and fit in lots of networking with old and new friends, and lots of milliners of course! A brilliant week and managed to take in Undressed at the V&A, too!!
Thank heaven's for a great AirBnB. What a week! Wow - came home for a rest!
Delighted with a great article on p17 of the Business pages of The Newcastle Journal on the upcoming international exhibitions at London Hat Week in October.
Lots new images too - which I will be adding my website in due course - having spent the afternoon posing around the house with my hats!! Thanks to Keith Newman of HIghlightPR for arranging for John Gibson to take the new images.
So hope you will enjoy reading the article!
Well nerves were all of a jitter a couple of days ago when I got the call from Keith Newman of HighlightsPR, who had spotted that I had scored a hat trick with my recycled and up-cycled millinery headpieces. So fascinated was he that he introduced me to BBC Newcastle's sparkling, vivacious, the one & only Sue Sweeney. Gosh was I nervous when I arrived at BBC Newcastle Barrack Road studios to be by interviewed by Sue!
Sue immediately calmed my nerves and very quickly got me to talk about my fascination with all things millinery but particularly the pieces that have been selected for the two London Hat Week exhibitions - XTerrace Platform & The Cupola Exhibition. She even tried on a hat or too! It was all over in a flash, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Here's the transcript - just copy & paste it to listen to the interview at 1hr 15mins:
